Dr. Sandra Fox obtained her doctor of optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1986.  She established a solo private practice in Corpus Christi, TX and provided low vision services within a general optometry practice.  She joined the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio Department of Ophthalmology in 1999 to help develop a low vision service.  The Lions Low Vision Rehabilitation Center of Texas was established in 2003 and utilizes a multidisciplinary approach to low vision rehabilitation that includes ophthalmology, optometry and occupational therapy. She performs low vision evaluations on adults and children that have vision loss as well as those that have suffered acquired brain injury.  Dr. Fox is involved with clinical research in the area of low vision rehabilitation and teaches in the department of ophthalmology concerning low vision rehabilitation and optics.  She teaches in the clinical setting to ophthalmology residents, optometry students, occupational therapy and other allied health students.  She is actively involved with community education by speaking to community groups concerning eye disease, prevention of eye disease and low vision rehabilitation.  Dr. Fox is also involved with I Care San Antonio, a non-profit organization that provides eye care to the homeless and “working poor” of San Antonio.

Dr. Melanie Gonzalez obtained her doctor of optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts in 2009. In 2010, she completed a residency at the University of Houston College of Optometry. During her residency, she expanded her knowledge in family practice, ocular disease, and low vision. She joined the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Department of Ophthalmology in 2011. Dr. Gonzalez focuses on diabetic eye exams, low vision, therapeutic contact lenses, and routine eye care. She teaches clinical practice and vision rehabilitation to ophthalmology residents, medical residents, and medical students. She became a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry in 2011.

Ms. Pérez Andrews graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas in 1989 and her MBA from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas in 2001. She has over 16 years clinical experience assessing and treating individuals with neurological impairments. Ms. Pérez Andrews is an occupational therapist and a certified low vision therapist working in collaboration with the low vision optometrist at the Lions Low Vision Rehabilitation Center of Texas. She provides clinical low vision rehabilitation assessments and training in activities of daily living. She is involved with clinical research in the area of low vision rehabilitation and teaches in the department of occupational therapy. Her teaching focus is in the area of low vision and vision rehabilitation.  Ms. Pérez Andrews is actively involved with community education and frequently speaks to community groups concerning low vision rehabilitation, including medication and diabetes self-care management.
